Category ‘A1’ full licence training.
This option is open to all riders of 17 years and over, riders 19 years and over have “A2” Direct Access training as an option, riders over 24 years of age also have the full Category “A” Direct Access training available to them.
The practical tests will be taken on a bike of between 121cc and 125cc and capable of at least 55 mph (90 kph). On completion, riders who choose this route will be licenced to ride machines of no more than 125cc and not more than 14.6 bhp (11kW). Staged A2 licence – the candidate must be at least 19 years of age and have held an A1 licence for a minimum of 2 years. DSA Module 1 and 2 400cc retests will be required.
A valid theory test certificate is always required before taking the first practical motorcycle test and unless taking the progressive access route, a valid theory test certificate is required before taking any subsequent practical motorcycle tests.
