What is Direct Access (DAS)?
The Direct Access or DAS Scheme quite simply allows a learner of over 24 years of age to fast track the learning process onto larger more powerful machines. The DAS scheme enables you to train and test on motorcycles of over 53.6 BHP (e.g. 600cc). This is by far the most popular DAS Training course we run for clients over 24 years of age.
There are several advantages with DAS Scheme training. First of all you will learn on a larger more powerful machine, possibly very similar to the one you may buy on passing your test. In addition some of our DAS training bikes can be fitted with an optional lower seat height which many learner riders feel is a great confidence booster when riding a “big ‘bike” for the first time.
Once you have passed your test, you will be able to ride any bike regardless of power output or engine size. Whilst we would not recommend buying a 1000cc super bike as a first big bike, the Direct Access or DAS Scheme does allow you a much greater choice of machines. This can be useful if commuting, touring by motorcycle or riding with a pillion passenger is your ultimate goal.
What we do
At ProBike we provide Direct Access Motorcycle Training for Chester, North Wales, Wirral and its surrounding areas, we have been successfully providing quality DAS Training in these areas for over 10 years.
We offer split courses over weekdays and weekends to help spread the cost and help with work commitments. Daily and hourly rates are also available if required.
Our Direct Access (DAS) training courses are put together to suit you, the individual, dependant on the level of ability and experience you already have. All courses can be taken in a block of consecutive days or you can split the training up and spread it out over a longer period if you so wish. Many of our clients find that spreading the training over a longer period allows them to learn in a more relaxed manner and to carry on with minimal disruption to their normal routine.

There is no substitute for adequate preparation when it comes to passing the test via a DAS Training Course: when selecting and booking your training course please be realistic about your current level of experience and riding ability. Remember if you fail the test because you weren’t ready for it, it will work out to be more expensive in the long run.
Our DAS training course prices include: full insurance, on road training, practical test fees, bike hire and fuel. Safety helmet, jacket, gloves and over trousers can also be provided if required.
Staged Category A Full licence, the candidate must be at least 21 years of age and have held an A2 licence for a minimum of 2 years. DSA Module 1 and 2 600cc retests will be required.
